David McMurry grew up in Ithaca and attended Belle Sherman, Northeast, and Dewitt, before graduating from Ithaca High School. The many outstanding teachers he had in the ICSD instilled in him a lifelong curiosity and love of learning. After a career in finance in San Francisco and New York City, he left to pursue his passion for early European art. Today, he is an independent art dealer specializing in northern European paintings of the 16th and 17th centuries.

David returned to Ithaca in 2011 to raise his family here, and currently has children at Boynton and Ithaca High. He is an ardent believer in the transformative power of education and hopes to bring his enthusiasm, analytical skills, and fact-based approach to problem solving to the ICSD Board of Education.

David holds a B.A. in History and Science from Harvard University.
