Jacob Shiffrin grew up in Ithaca and is a proud graduate of Cayuga Heights Elementary, Boynton Middle School, and Ithaca High School. Inspired by his own teachers, Jacob has dedicated nearly 20 years to the field of education.

Jacob has spanned roles as an elementary school teacher, elementary school principal, district administrator, educational consultant.  He is currently a Professor of Education, supporting in-service teachers around the country. Having worked with teachers across over 10 states, he has seen how when districts commit to excellence and use evidence-based practices, that schools can be a powerful driver of educational equity. He believes that quality education is the key to providing opportunities to all students. 

Three years ago, Jacob returned to Ithaca with his family, eager to give back to the community that helped shape him. He hopes to bring his leadership experience, educational expertise, and commitment to students, families, and educators within ICSD. In his spare time, Jacob spends time with his wife, three children (ages 15, 7, and 3), two dogs, and two cats.
